Our Best-Selling Model. Trusted by Guides. Built for Everything.
The 13'6" Blackfoot Strike is the core of the Strike lineup—our top-selling raft and the go-to choice for professional guides and dedicated anglers across the West. Designed to strike the perfect balance between capacity, maneuverability, and versatility, this boat is just as comfortable floating big western rivers as it is threading through tight, technical side channels.
From day trips to overnight camp floats, whitewater to low water, this is the one raft that does it all—and does it well. If you're looking for a boat to row day-in, day-out with maximum efficiency and reliability, the 13'6" Strike is your answer.
Designed by Guides. Enjoyed by All.
Designed by Blackfoot River Outfitters founder John Herzer and hand-built in the USA by SOTAR, the Strike draws on over 30 years of hard-earned guiding experience. The 13'6" version is the same boat John runs over 150 days a year, and it’s earned its reputation as one of the most capable and efficient fishing rafts on the water.
The layout provides ample space between anglers and rower, eliminating tangle zones and improving safety and comfort for everyone on board. Whether you're guiding clients or floating with friends, it’s the right mix of form, function, and fishability.
Low Profile. High Versatility.
The low-profile, asymmetrical tube design gives the 13'6" Strike unmatched handling and visibility without compromising stability or storage:
-
Diminishing bow maximizes internal space without sacrificing maneuverability
-
Less than 7 feet of tube on the water and a maximum 19″ tube diameter allow for a shallow draft and responsive tracking
-
Larger stern adds flotation and stability for a rear angler or overnight gear
-
Flat, aerodynamic profile improves wind performance and offers 360-degree visibility for both anglers and rower
-
Excels in tight, technical water and remains stable through whitewater and heavy current
Durability That Works as Hard as You Do
SOTAR rafts are constructed using Rezcoat—a proprietary 40 oz., 100% urethane material with a 1500 denier base fabric, offering the highest abrasion and puncture resistance in the industry. Add in welded seams, multi-chamber construction, and a legacy of proven durability, and you’ve got a raft that’s built for real-world abuse and multi-season reliability.

Guides and serious anglers who need a reliable all-around boat

If there’s a better raft to fish from than the 13½-foot Blackfoot Strike, I’ve never seen it. Tapering tubes cutting an amazingly shallow draft, it’s a joy to row. Nimble enough to skate through lateJuly boulder gardens and put you exactly where you want to be in Class IV water. Sleek enough to slice through brutal headwinds. Quiet and stable enough to let anglers deliver on-the-nailhead casts and sustain flawless drifts.
I purchased a Blackfoot Strike from BRO and absolutely love my boat! I had previously owned another raft from a well known manufacturer that was setup for fishing. While it was a good boat, the Sotar Blackfoot Strike is better in every regard. In addition to regular day floats around Missoula, I have also taken my Strike on four Smith River trips and it is an outstanding platform for multiday camping. I had Leo Larson at Montana Raft Frames make a couple of custom frame modifications for me that truly make it a multiday Cadillac. When you combine the great design of the Sotar Blackfoot Strike, the world class craftsmanship found at Montana Raft Frames and the expertise and exceptional customer service at Blackfoot River Outfitters, then you have a clear winner. I am confident you will enjoy your Strike as much as I have enjoyed mine.
I started guiding in the mid 9os and have rowed virtually every raft out there. The Sotar strike is by far and away the best fishing raft I’ve encountered . Lightweight and bombproof. The design is intended for ease of rowing and the low profile up front cuts wind like no other.
My first Blackfoot strike and Montana raft frame went close to one thousand days of private and commercial use with only one hole (from a cigar). I won’t row anything else!
I had an entry level boat until I decided to step up to a 13'6" strike. I've had my boat 4 years now and it's seen MANY river miles. It's not an exaggeration that this boat moves better in the water, holds lines and catches an eddy better than you'd expect. It's comfortable, easier to see in (which is extremely important) and super secure in bigger water. Only reason I'll ever sell it is to buy a new one. Oh, the Montana Raft Frame is second to none too.
Thanks BRO!
