Our Women's Fly Tying 101 Class is intended to be an introduction to fly tying for women with little to no experience. We will cover essential fly tying materials, tools, and material handling skills. We aim to give you the confidence and skills necessary to whip up a few dozen flies that you will actually fish! Along the way, we hope to inspire a passion to create your own flies and teach you a little something about how we approach flies and fly fishing. Throughout the class, we will tie several flies proven to work in our home waters around Missoula: The Blackfoot, Bitterroot, Clark Fork, and Rock Creek.
All materials and tools will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own vise and tools if you have them. The class is capped at 8 participants to allow for individualized instruction.
Our fly tying instructor, Noelle Coley, works at Blackfoot River Outfitters as our Store Manager. Noelle has a wealth of fly fishing experience in Montana and is well informed on which flies are best for different situations and how to tie them! Her specialty is tying patterns for alpine lakes she hikes to in the summer. However, she has tied flies for everything from trout in Montana to Peacock Bass in Brazil & Bonefish in Belize! She can be reached at noelle@blackfootriver.com with any questions.
Full payment is due at the time of purchase and is nonrefundable (can only be redeemed for a later class or store credit).
