Tip of the Week Trout are actively cruising the shallow, muddy flats along the northern and western banks, especially during the first few hours of daylight as the shallows heat up and will continue throughout the warmest part of the day. Present your flies on transitions where shallow weed beds drop off into deep water.
***Open third Saturday in May through March 31, except for the South and East shoreline area which is only open July 1 through March 31. South and East shoreline areas described as follows: all waters from the shore or within 100 yards of shore in the area extending from a point 200 yards west of Lakeside at Georgetown Marina (along the shore, including all of Stuart Mill Bay)***
7 Day Outlook Up at Georgetown, a mix of sun and cloud for the weekend. Highs will be in the 60s and overnight lows in the 30s. Next week looks to be similar to the weekend with a mix of sunshine and clouds with temps in the 60s.
Best Techniques Suspending a two-fly rig under an indicator remains the best tactic. Run a balanced leech or a local chironomid pattern, allowing the natural lake chop to provide all the action. Stripping a wooly bugger or a leech is also a good option if the indicator is producing. The dry fly fishing is slowly turning on late in the afternoon and into the evening. Caddis and Callibaetis will be your primary dries until the travelling Sedge hit the lake in the next couple weeks.
